#1 Have started to look at older LHD MH's and like the idea of the Mercedes 5 cylinder diesel engine. Does anyone have any experience or opinion on what they are like to live with? Had a Merc 609D base previously and although a little agricultural was in love with it's robust reliabilty and simplicity.

#1 hi there i am new to this forum, i recently bought a 609D mercedes bus. it used to be a disabled council bus. 1993 - long wheelbase 3.9 ltr manual with PA steering and wheelchair lift at the rear. I am trying to find out what the unloaded weight of the bus would be if it were empty with just the weight of the driver.

May 10, 2012 #2 Mercedes 609d or 709d ? what is the difference please? You will find that the only difference is the carrying capacity. The engines are bomb proof. Just have a very close look under the bonnet at the scuttle area and inner wings for severe tin worm. It could have been covered up with underseal. Deleted member 3802 Guest May 10, 2012
